Ghana is a country in which the standard of education is very good, and it is interesting to visit some of the schools like the Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Centre (Biriwa). This training institute is situated in Biriwa in Central Region of Ghana, and was built by the Germans. It takes less than an hour to drive there from Cape Coast.

At present the Vocational Training Centre employs sixty-four teachers, and about one thousand two hundred trainees, including disabled people, pursue several courses. The courses run by the institution are:

   (1). carpentry and joinery
   (2). dress making
   (3). catering
   (4). leather working
   (5). refrigeration and air conditioning
   (6)  building and construction
   (7). motor vehicle mechanics
   (8). general electrics
   (9). weaving and cane working
The institute now also trains unemployed people, street children as well as disabled people to acquire skills in various courses. Formerly the institute was run by the Germans but is now run by the Ghana Government as a National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI).
